COOKEVILLE SPEEDWAY 2007 Rules These rules are for Drivers only
and are not intended to impose any responsibility on Cookeville Speedway,
LLC. Cookeville Speedway, LLC. shall incur no liability to any party, whether a participant, spectator, guest or business invitee. General Rules All Divisions - It is very important for everyone to read this.
IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL CARS HAVE AT LEAST ONE 5 LB. FIRE EXTINGUISHER READY TO USE NO EXCEPTIONS. ANY ADJUSTMENT, ADDITIONS OR AMENDMENTS BY OFFICIALS IN THE INTEREST OF EQUAL COMPETITION CAN BE MADE WITHOUT NOTIFICATION |
All classes: a $400.00 protest fee to pull one (1) cylinder head. This includes topside of engine. $100.00 fee for the next cylinder head. $100.00 fee for camshaft. $100.00 fee for the oil pan. Protest fees must be posted no later than five (5) minutes after feature race. Items being protested must be in writing. A visual protest must be made before race. Technical inspector will receive a percentage of the protest fee, whether legal or illegal.
No one allowed in the protest area, except the car owner, his mechanic, Cookeville Speedway Inspector, one track official and the owner or driver who is protesting.
Track officials will set a fee for miscellaneous protest.
A car may be protested only by the car that finished one position behind.
Driver sign-in will be closed at 6:30. Drivers meeting will be at 6:45pm on regular race night. Any LLM or UMP Open Wheel driver not signed in or at meeting will qualify last with one lap only.
Chevette and 4 Cylinder will start at back of semis.
Monthly Super Late
Models (86 laps of competition)
Rules for Super Late Models will be OSAS / ADVANCE THUNDER (body,chassis and motor)
Hoosier – LM40, 1600 & D55
American Racer – MD56, Spec 56 (Tire rules may change)
Track reserves the right check serial numbers with manufactorer.
TIRES MUST STICK 60 COLD 48 HOT
Pill draw for qualifying.
2 laps qualifying by draw only. Any car missing qualification may start at rear of consolation.
Top eight qualifiers will compete in inverted (determined by draw) 10-lap dash to determine 1st. eight starting positions. (Fast qualifier will receive $100) (Dash winner will receive $100)
With up to 29 entries positions 9-24 will be determined by two 12-lap semi-features
With 30+ entries positions 9-22 will be determined by two 12-lap semi-features.
Positions 23-24 will be determined by a 12-lap consolation race (start determined by finish in semi, inside row from 1st outside from 2nd .
Third place in consolation will receive $100.

Super Late Model rules apply except for tires, engine and weight (Weight-
2400 lbs. At anytime)
602 engines may race at 2200lbs & 604 at 2250lbs/12inch spoiler
Any crate engine modification will result in suspension from track for season.
BLOCK:
GM, Ford or Chrysler Cast iron V-8 block only.
Maximum cylinder bore size, Chevrolet 4.060, Ford 4.060, Chrysler 4.060.
After-market steel splayed main caps permitted.
Main cap studs and straps permitted.
Deburring block and plugging deck to strengthen block permitted.
Plug or vent screen oil drain holes in lifter valley permitted.
May surface block.
Lifter bore must be OEM diameter for engine. Chevrolet .842, Ford .875 Chrysler .903
Chevy Ford and Chrysler 362 Maximum cubic inch.
CRANK:
Any steel crank with the exception of titanium and or other exotic materials.
May balance engine.
RODS:
Steel rods only.
NO titanium or aluminum rods.
PISTONS:
Any flat top pistons and pins.
NO dome pistons.
CAM:
Solid lift cam only.
NO roller or mushroom cam.
LIFTERS:
Solid lifters only.
NO roller or mushroom lifters.
Lifter retaining tray permitted
Lifter must be OEM diameter for engine. Chevrolet .842, Ford .875, Chrysler .903.
TIRES:
All tires must stick 60 cold 52 hot (including Crate Motor Cars)
No treating of any kind will be allowed
HEADS:
NO porting or polishing.
Heads may be flat or angle milled.
Valve job
may be any angle and any depth.
Valve
spring pockets may be
machined.
May have competition valve job, any angle, any depth.
All
valve angles must remain concentric with valve guide.
May be machined for push rod clearance.
Vortec heads are allowed.
These are heads permitted.Aftermarket heads: Dart, World, Pro-Action, Bowtie, SVO, Mopar Performance or any other brand. Chevrolet heads must be 23 degree standard runner. NO 18 degree heads. NO raised runner heads of any make. CC limit on intake runner 200 maximum. No cc limit on combustion chamber.
Valve angle and spacing must remain original production specs for heads being used.
Steel valves only. (NO titanium valves.)
Valve size maximum for all engines; Intake 2.050 and Exhaust 1.600
Valve stem diameter 11/32 minimum for all engines.
Under cut stems permitted, any type guides.
Any valve springs, retainers and keepers.
Guide plates, screw in studs and stud girdles permitted.
Roller rocker arms, stud or shaft mount permitted.
NO port matching intake or exhaust runners.
Racing valve jobs permitted, machine cut only.
NO blending of valve jobs or casting.
NO deburring of intake or exhaust runners.
OILING SYSTEMS:
Dry sump must add 50 pounds.
INTAKE MANIFOLD:
Any intake permitted. / May Port and polish.
CARBURETORS:
One four barrel permitted. / NO dominators permitted.
IGNITION SYSTEMS:
Any point type or electronic ignition system allowed. (No traction control devices allowed. MSD or electronic boxes may be bought for $300.)
Open Wheel will be
sanctioned by UMP and follow all UMP rules.

BODIES: COMPACT 4 CYLINDER CARS ONLY 1971Through 2001 models
Home made bodies permitted. Must be stock appearing.
Aftermarket nose panels are permitted.
Must have full floor pan and firewall.
Fiberglass hood or top allowed.
ENGINES:
Engine must be in original position (1" Tolerance) Must be factory block
No rotary engines No 2500 cc engines
All dual overhead cam engines must add 100lbs in front of the flywheel.
SHORT BLOCK CLAIM RULE:
To claim you must be on lead lap and finish in top five. Can only claim positions in front of you. To claim bottom end is $950.00 with track getting $50.00.Claim does not include flywheel and clutch assembly, starter, pulleys or headers.
Any driver, who refuses to sell, loses all winnings and points for that night, losses his right to claim for the rest of the season and must sit out for (2) RACES driver and car, regardless of car being sold or whatever.
HEAD:
Steel head only. (Unless came factory with aluminum. Toyota, Nissan etc.)
Aluminum head cars must add 50lbs in front of firewall.
Porting and Polishing allowed.
WEIGHTS:
Hydraulic head 2200 lbs at anytime.
Solid head 2300 lbs. At anytime
Roller head 2400 lbs. At anytime
It is driver's
responsibility to have weight clearly displayed on left front corner of roof at
ALL times. Any car with weight not displayed may be disqualified.
INTAKE AND CARBURETOR:
Aluminum intake allowed.
Single two barrel carburetor (Modifications allowed)
FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH:
Steel flywheel only 15lbs. Min
Single disc clutches only
Bell housing must have a min. of 2" hole in the bottom and 2" from the edge for visual inspections.
If not clutch & flywheel above you must add 70 lbs.
ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM :
Headers permitted
No turned down header pipes allowed
ELECTRIAL SYSTEM:
Stock or dual point distributor only.
Battery must be located in a safe position.
FUEL CELL AND FUEL - GAS
ONLY:
Fuel cell must be in a 20 GAUGE STEEL CANISTER, with 2 inch STRAPS OR WIDER and moved into rear space and must be fastened securely in a safe manner. Fuel cells must be in all cars.
SHOCKS:
Racing shocks and wedge bolts permitted. $200 shock claim rule in effect
WHEEL BASE:
Stock for make and model
TIRES AND WHEELS:
8 inch tire width with 1/4 variation
Stock wheels RE-ENFORCED MAX 8 inch
Spoke type wheels permitted. Beadlocks OK
Aluminum Wheels permitted
Hoosier RC4 or equal
ROLLBARS:
Steel roll over bars are COMPULSORY and must be approved. ALUMINUM AND OTHER SOFT METALS NOT PERMITTED.
Roll bars must be welded and must be no less than 1 1/2 inch diameter. Walls must be no less than .090 steel. No pipe fittings.
SEATS:
Approved bucket seats allowed. Seats should not be welded to frame but should be welded on parallel bars so the seat could shift with roll cage impact.
BRAKES:
Any type FOUR WHEEL DISK BRAKES allowed, except carbon fiber brakes.
FIREWALL:
FULL FIREWALL MANDATORY FRONT AND REAR
SPOILER:
6 inch or stock spoiler, mounted in original position
Triangular brace 12 inches long, no higher than spoiler.
REAR AXLE:
Stock rear end may be locked
No front wheel drives
No traction aiding devices. 90/10 shock, lift bar, etc.
Pill draw each week.
Two 7 lap semi-features.
Even pill to first semi
Odd pill to second semi
Top 20 cars to12 lap feature (start determined by semi finish.)
Body - Only stock Chevette bodies may be used. Inner door panels and inner hood frame may be removed. Also, front inner wheel well may be removed. All cars must have front and rear firewalls in original position. Must have full floor pan and rear wheel wells. Doors must be welded shut. Can run Nerf bars between front and rear tires. Can run 4-inch rear spoiler. Boxing inside of car body is allowed. Driver window must have a safety net.
Engines - May be balanced with any grind cam and 60 over bore. All other engine parts must be stock. This means carburetors, intakes and all head parts. Can run exhaust manifolds or OC headers. Valves cannot be over size.
Suspension and Running Gears - Stock Chevette suspension with shocks in their stock position. Stock Chevette transmissions, automatic or manual, with stock rear ends. Stock drive train (clutch and flywheels). Can run locked rear ends.
Wheels and Tires - Wheels may be 13" x 8" or 14" x 8" with 1" lug nuts. No racing tires, no snow or mud tires may be used.
Battery and Fuel Tanks - All batteries and fuel tanks must be secured in place with steel straps. Batteries must be covered. GASOLINE ONLY.
Weight Rule - 1900 with driver after a race (All weights must be bolted proper - no excuse)
